Sorry, The Drum Exchange does not rent to own. (We do rent instruments per day/weekend for concerts. See the rental section).
Drumsets: The price of drumsets is pretty inexpensive ($500 & up), so rent to own doesn't make much sense, in our opinion. If you are short on money, consider putting your purchase on a credit card. You can buy a $500.00 drumset and pay it off on a credit card for less than a rent to own program. The price that you will eventually pay on a rent to own program is much more than owning it right off.
Mallet Instruments: (also timpani, etc.) Most stores don't rent to own mallet instruments, because the cost of mallet instruments is too high. A store has to invest in an instrument to rent it. When you do rent to own, you will usually pay a VERY high price on the sale. I never recommend it. I do recommend getting a credit card, and paying it off. A $2500 instrument might only cost about $50/month on a credit card, depending on your interest. Rent to own would be at least $100/month, if not more, forever! Believe me, the store is charging interest, and you will not even own the instrument until the end.
If your biggest concern is how long you (or your child) will use the instrument, consider lessons (see lesson and finding a teacher guides). That's the biggest guarantee of success and keeping an instrument around for a very long time. Remember, an instrument will never teach anyone how to play it! We don't recommend buying any musical instruments as an investment, unless it is your business. It's very tricky!
Thanks, and let me know if you have any other questions.
